HAPPINESS

An agreeable feeling or condition of the soul arising from good fortune, and the possession of enjoyment, is the state of being happy.

“How to gain, how to keep, how to recover happiness is in fact for most people at all times the secret motive for all they do. People who are happy perceive the world as safer, make decisions more easily, are more cooperative, and live healthier and more energized.
Both articles show us that there are some factors how to gain the happiness, such as, money, marriage and religion.
Most of the people think that only money can make people happy. However, both articles are coming up with the some guest ions. Could money buy you happiness? Greg Easterbrook, different than Myers, he focused on some historical background and statistics and compare with the current time. 1950 Americans used to connect money with happiness, but today money jungles in their pocket and purses us never before and they are basically no happier for it., and for many, more money leads to depression. According to recent study by Roland Kessler of Harvard Medical School, 1 in 15 Americans experience an episode of major depression. On the other side Myers with some research show us that in affluent countries such as, U.S, Canada and Germany, where the most can afford life’s necessities, the correlation between income and personal happiness is surprisingly weak.
Friendships are one of the main factors that make people happy. According to the author (David Myers), being attached to friends and partners with whom we can share intimate thoughts has two effects, it redoubleth joys, and cutteth griefs in half. Myers focused deeply on friendships relation between happiness. He also illustrates his opinion with some historical statistics. For instance, a poll from national opinion research centre, 38 % of those reporting five or more friends said they were very happy and 26 % of those reporting fewer than five friends were slightly happy. The author means that those who enjoy close relationships cope better with various stresses, including bereavement, rape, job loss, and illness.
